If You Go Down To The Woods Today… Tom Down Sam Royston Jack Lowe
OUTLINE OF THE FILM The story revolves around four A-level Media students, attempting to create a horror film set deep in their local woods. It all starts off according to plan and the opening scene is successful, little do they know that they are the ones actually being watched… As they try to develop their film, disturbances occur and they start to realise that they are actually experiencing their own ideas. At first, they put these thoughts to the back of their heads until it becomes more apparent that they are the ones in trouble…
TARGET AUDIENCE & WHY IT WILL APPEAL TO THEM We want the target audience to be of the 15 plus age bracket. We want it to be this because they have a mature enough mentality to handle and understand the content of the genre, and the characters that the film is based around are roughly the same age. It can also relate to the target audience through the activities taking place and the language used in the extract, they will appeal to the mid-teenage age and their lifestyles.

CODES & CONVENTIONS OF A FOUND FOOTAGE FILM The conventions of the ‘found footage’ genre are consistent throughout every film of this kind. Obviously, as the title suggest the film is meant to look like a recording from a video camera, moving away from the professional high standard camera, this gives the films a sense of realism. Another convention of this type of horror film is ‘poor’ shooting. This involves lots of shakey camera work to give a heightened sense of urgency and disorientation . A final consistent convention is muffled/ overly loud audio, this once again can give out a sense of urgency as the viewer is disorientated.
SCRIPTING INFORMATION We have not prepared a whole script purely because our extract is of the found footage horror genre. We want to create the feel that the footage is not prepared; therefore, all of the speech will be improvised. We have prepared a script though for the parts that are filmed normally, our scripted scenes. We have also created a list of events, which will prove that we know what scenes there will be but they will not have the desired effect if they are noticeably scripted and prepared.
