What is next for My Aged Care The next stage of My Aged Care will be implemented incrementally from January 2015 and will include: • a registration process for a central client record • a standardised national approach to assessment • access to telephone screening • face-to-face assessment through assessment organisations to determine care needs with a focus on reablement • a service matching and referral capability • access portals for clients, carers, assessors and providers to access the system National Respite Association Conference - October 2014

How respite will be accessed under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme • Access to Commonwealth Home Support Programme services will be facilitated through screening and assessment undertaken by My Aged Care and Regional Assessment Services. It will identify: • The care needs of the care recipient • Type of care provided by the carer • Any difficulties/concerns with the caring arrangement • Sustainability of the caring arrangement • Any supports that may assist with the caring role • Assessment will result in the development of a support plan, based on client goals and agreed actions to be taken, such as referral to respite and other CHSP services. l National Respite Association Conference - October 2014
