  1. Embrace the challenge • The IB Diploma Program is one of the most comprehensive, challenging, and intellectually stimulating courses of study in the world. • Del Mar is currently a candidate school for the Diploma Program and is in the process of pursuing authorization as an IB World School.

  2. Three Core Components of the Diploma Programme

  3. Creativity, Activity, Service Students enhance their personal development through experiential learning in three areas: 1. Creativity: arts and other experiences that involve creative thinking 2. Activity: physical activity that contributes to a healthy lifestyle 3. Service: unpaid and voluntary time that has a learning benefit for the student

  4. Theory of Knowledge • A course that encourages students to: • -reflect critically on diverse ways of knowing. • -consider the role of knowledge in their own culture, in the culture of others, and in the wider world. • -be aware of themselves as thinkers and understand how they learn.

  5. The Extended Essay • 4,000 word essay • Investigate a research question of personal interest • Develop independent research and writing skills expected at the university level
