3. Transcript • Permanent record of the classes you’ve taken and the grades you have earned in high school • Follows you to every school you attend in high school • When a class is retaken, it is added to your transcript the year you took it. The original grade remains. It does not get “replaced” • Universities see the entire transcript

4. Transcript Parts • Classes, grade, credits • Each passing grade earns you 5 credits • Credit Summary- 4 Columns • Credits Required- total number of credits you must complete in 9th - 12th grade • Credits Attempted- classes you took in 9th grade • Credits Earned- classes passed/credits earned in 9th grade • Credits Remaining • The credits that you still need to complete in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade

Graduation Requirement MathYou must pass all classes with a grade of D or better to earn 5 credits toward graduation • In order to earn 240 credits in four years you must pass every class, every semester. Why? • Six classes per semester= 30 credits X • Two semesters a year= 60 credits X • Four years of High School= 240 CREDITS!!!

Additional Graduation Requirements • Pass both parts of the CAHSEE (March 2013) • English Language Arts • Math • Complete certificates • Algebra I (Pass Algebra I) • Health certificate (completed in Biology) • Safety/First Aid (completed in PE) • Drivers Ed (sign up with Ms. Lyte or online) • Complete 40 hours of community service • Pick up form in the office

8. Transcript Review • Classes where you earned a D or an F have been highlighted • All F’s must be made up in order to earn enough credits to graduate on time. • E2020 online course at Leland • BYU online course $$$ • Community College Class (11th & 12th grade) • Summer class another school $$$ • Classes where you earned a D must also be made up to meet university A-G requirements • Some exceptions- Validation Rules • Algebra I, Algebra II • Foreign Language

9. General University Requirements • Complete the A-G requirements with a grade of C or better • CSU requires a minimum GPA of 2.0 • UC requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 • Take SAT or ACT • Generally taken spring of junior year • Complete online application • CSU and UC available online on October 1st • Submit: CSU 10/1 to 11/30 & UC 11/1-11/30) • Private Colleges & Universities require letters of recommendation from teachers/counselor and an essay • Application deadlines vary

10. What are the A-G requirements? • A list of classes that are approved by the University • These classes overlap with your graduation requirements • All of you are already taking A-G classes • You must earn a grade of C or better for these classes to count • If you earn a D in an A-G class, it will not meet the requirement and must be repeated. • Check https://doorways.ucop.edu for list of A-G classes offered at Leland

A minimum of 11 A-G courses must be completed before 12th grade

A-G / Grad Plan 9th & 10th grade • Please fill in the 9th grade box with the classes listed on your transcript from 9th grade • List year long classes only one time • Please fill in the 10th grade box with the six classes you are currently taking. • You should only have 6-7 classes each year. • Middle school Math and Foreign Language credits listed on your H.S. transcript will count as credits for graduation and as another year of the subject for university requirements.

14. A-G/Grad Plan - 11th Grade • Science- 3 years required, 4 years recommended • If you have not taken Biology choose: • Biology • Biology Honors (requires completion of Chemistry and concurrent enrollment in Algebra II or higher) • If you have only taken Biology and no other science course, you may choose: • Chemistry or Chemistry Honors • Conceptual Physics • If you’ve taken Bio and Chem you may choose: • Honors Biology • AP Biology • Physiology • AP Chemistry • Physics or Physics Honors (if concurrently enrolled in Pre Calculus or higher) • AP Environmental Science • AP Physics- you must complete Physics & Pre Calculus by the end of this year

15. A-G / Grad Plan - 11th grade • Foreign Language- 2 years required, 3 years recommended • If you have not taken any Foreign Language yet choose: • Spanish 1-2 • French 1-2 • SJCC College Classes: Japanese 1-2 • American Sign Language 1-2 • Fill in a 12th grade box with next level of same language • Spanish 3-4 •French 3-4 • SJCC College Classes: Japanese 3-4 • If you are already in a Foreign Language and wish to continue, fill in the next level of same language. • Spanish 1/2, Spanish 3/4, Spanish 5/6, Spanish 7/8 • AP Spanish Language- prerequisite is Spanish 5/6

A-G / Grad Plan - 11th grade • Visual Performing Arts- 2 years required • If you have already done 2 years, do not choose any more VPA classes • Otherwise choose one of these examples: • Drawing- (Adv. Drawing if doing 2nd year) • Animation • Photo- (Adv. Photo if doing 2nd year) • Multimedia- (Adv. Multimedia if doing 2nd year) • Sculpture • Choir • Orchestra • Drama • Dramatic Int. (Speech and Debate) • If you’ve not taken any VPA classes yet choose one for 12th grade as well

19. A-G Grad Plan - 12th grade Electives • You should have only six boxes per year filled out • Boxes that remain empty can be filled in with Electives- do not exceed 6 boxes ( 6 periods) • Electives can be any class that you haven’t taken yet. Recommended courses are: • 4th year of Math • 4th year of Science • 3rd or 4th year of Foreign Language • Any extra courses taken above and beyond the requirements will count toward your electives. • You should have 45 electives
