Agenda Check Social Studies • Students will write in the agenda the classwork and homework for the day. • Students will fill in the agenda in the first 5 minutes of class when they finish Bell work • The previous week will be checked in class on Monday/Tuesday
Agenda Checks Character ED • We will do Agenda Checks every Monday in character education • Your parents will need to sign your agenda that they have seen your grades • The best time to fill out grades for the agenda is Sunday Night • 2 weeks in a row of no parent signature or unfilled grades will result in student call home
Daily Checklist • What you need to be prepared each day for social studies: • Your Agenda • Your notebook • Your folder • Pen/Pencil
Materials needed for class • Notebook: You will need more than one notebook this school year for social studies • Folder: Get a folder just for social studies. It is up to you what type of folder you get. This will help you stay organized. • Agenda: have this out on your desk each day • Pencil: Sharpened during bell work only
Missing Absent Work • The person you are sitting next to is your absent buddy. • Check with them what handouts you need before you ask me. • Come up and get the handouts from the absent box as needed.
Absent Work Policy • Students will have as many days to complete the assignment as they were absent • For example- If a student was absent on Monday they get the assignment on Wednesday and its due on Friday. • If the assignment is not turned in on Friday it follows the missing work policy
Missing Work Policy • Students who do not turn in their assignments in on time will receive an academic detention form. • By the next class period the assignment and form are due signed. • This will result in the student earning a 75% on the assignment and no further consequences. But what if the student does not turn in the work or forms????
Missing Work Policy • Students will serve an “Academic Detention” the second class period the assignment is missing • Students will work on completing the assignment while in “Academic Detention” • Students can still turn in the work for 50% credit if it has been missing for 2 class periods
Missing Work Policy • All students who have turned in an assignment 3 class periods late will receive the score of a 0 for the assignment. • This is the policy in the student handbook and 7th grade syllabus
Example 75% NO AD • Johnnie did not turn in his assignment Monday • I give Johnny the Academic Detention form • He takes form home gets it signed and turns in the assignment next class period which is Wednesday
Example 50% With AD • Johnnie did not turn in assignment Monday • Johnnie gets Academic Detention form • Johnnie does not turn in assignment or form Wednesday. • Johnnie gets assigned an academic Detention and completes work on Friday earns 50%
Example 0% and AD • Johnnie does not turn in assignment Monday • Johnnie gets Academic Deletion form • Johnnie does not turn the assignment in Wednesday • Johnnie gets assigned AD still does not turn in work on Friday. He has earned a 0 for the assignment.
