What to do… • Determine if the design of a web site is acceptable or unacceptable • Design their own web site design on paper based on the topics discussed throughout Unit 1
Today We Are Going To… Discuss our first project in 5th Grade Social Studies! We will be designing our own “Web Pages“ using the information we learned from Unit 1!
Let’s Get Started! What is the Main Idea of this Web page? What pictures do you see? Are you able to find the information you are looking for on this Web page? Do you like the designer’s use of colors on this Web page?

Step 1 • Topic Examples: • Ice Age • The Native Americans in the Eastern Woodlands • The Vikings • Submit your topic to Schoology before 8:00 AM Monday. You can submit your topic as the answer to an essay online test answer. The topic is worth 5 points!
Step 2 Think of a title for your Web page Use your book to help you!! Choose at least 2 vocabulary words from the Chapter of your chosen topic. These vocabulary words MUST be shown in your Web page. Find pictures for your Web page

Step 3 Begin to put your Web page together You are to design a Homepage and two other Web pages that will act as “Links” from the homepage The additional “Links” will be used to talk about your topic. For example, if your topic is the “Eastern Woodlands” you may have subtopics that are customs and traditions and Iroquois of today

The Iroquois are made up of 6 different Nations. The 6 tribes are shown on the flag. The “Keepers of the Eastern Door” and the “Keepers of the Western Door” are shown as well. • The Groups • Mohawk • Cayuga • Oneida • Onondaga • Seneca • Tuscarora
Step 4 Go over the Checklist and make sure you have included all required information Submit your completed project to Schoology This project is due Monday, October 31, 2011 no later than 4:00 pm!
Checklist Have I submitted my topic to Schoology for 5 points? Did I create a homepage with a title? Did I create two additional pages to my Web site? Did I use 2 vocabulary words from the Chapter of my topic? Is my Web page colorful and did I include pictures? Did I submit my project before Monday, October 31…4:00 pm?
