  2. Bill of Rights • The bill of Rights are the first 10 amendments of the United States Constitution. • Pushed by Patrick Henry. • Made as a protection to the powers of the federal government.

  3. Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion. Freedom of RAPPS. (religion, assembly, press, petition, speech.) First Amendment

  4. Right to bear arms. A well regulated militia Second Amendment

  5. No quartering of troops in peacetime without consent of the owner. Third Amendment

  6. No illegal search and seizures. Need a search warrant. Fourth Amendment

  7. No double jeopardy Miranda rights Due process clause Self incrimination Fifth Amendment

  8. Right to fair and speedy trial. Counsel. Witnesses No tricks! Sixth Amendment

  9. Common law cases may be TRIAL BY JURY Seventh Amendment

  10. No excessive bail No excessive fines No cruel and unusual punishment Eighth Amendment

  11. You have more rights than what are stated in the Constitution. Ninth Amendment

  12. Powers not given to the U.S. by the Constitution are “reserved” to the states or people. Tenth Amendment
