  2. State Government Partnerships • Pennsylvania Office of Financial Education • Created by executive order of Governor Rendell in 2004 • Essential to have one person coordinating state efforts • Office served as a clearinghouse of information and resources

  3. State Government Partnerships • School-Based Financial Education Program • Pa. Department of Banking partnership with Pa. Department of Education – 2005-2011 • Funding, staff, vetted classroom resources and teacher training

  4. State Government Partnerships • Staffing • School-based financial education specialist with an office in both agencies • Served as liaison that provided communication between financial services “world” and education “world”

  5. State Government Partnerships • Teacher Training • Governor’s Institute on Financial Education – full scholarship program for up to 100 K-12 teachers at week-long, campus-based training • Funding from Banking Department • Graduate credits and registration by Education Department • Ripple Effect Awards to alumni by both agencies

  6. State Government Partnerships • Other school-based services provided: • In-service workshops and on-site consultations • K-12 curricula and classroom resources • Alignment to Pennsylvania academic standards
