  2. Matthew 7:12 (NIV) So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

  3. Jesus Bottom Line: • So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you

  4. Two Warnings: • A warning against a criticalspirit “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Matthew 7:1-2)

  5. Jesus “chiasm” in vv 3-5: Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

  6. Jesus “chiasm” in vv 3-5: How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?

  7. Jesus “chiasm” in vv 3-5: You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye

  11. Two Warnings: • A warning against overzealousevangelism “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. Matthew 7:6 (NIV)

  13. Living this truth will require divineassistance “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

  18. Living this truth will require divineassistance (vv.7-11) • We expect even evilparents to provide a certain level of care for their children. • God’s care is muchgreater than the best human parent has ever provided.

  19. Our Bottom Line: • Jesus-centered people have “goldenbehavior”. So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12 (NIV)

  20. Our Bottom Line: • Jesus “Golden Rule” is active not reactive or passive. • Jesus “Golden Rule” connects religion (doing) and spirituality (being).

  21. For those just starting… • Forgive anyone who claimed to be a follower of Christ and violated what the Holy Spirit is doing in your life by trying to force religion on you when you were not ready for it.

  22. For those just starting… • Be sensitive to the work of the HolySpirit in your life

  23. For those who are following hard after God… • Remember your own salvation. • Ask God to forgive you for trying to correct and control others without even listening to them.

  24. For those who are following hard after God… 3. Ask God to give you discernment for inviting others to make Him their God! 4. Live in repentance 5. Celebrate God’s faithfulness
