  3. Subject = Plot What’s the setting? Who are the characters? What happens in the story? Color = Tone, Mood What emotions does the story convey? What causes these emotions? Where are the “dark/light” parts of the story?

  4. Line = Symbolism, Motif, Theme What is the message the author wants us to learn? What points us to the theme? Are there elements that keep reoccurring in the story?
