Electric Circuits • Remember, electron currents cannot flow through just any material • Conductors: materials in which electrons move freely • Insulators: materials in which electrons cannot move freely Check out which materials are conductor and insulators
Electric Circuits • In a conductor, some of the electrons are only loosely bound to their atoms • EX: metals, copper, silver, aluminum • In an insulator, the electrons are bound tightly to their atoms and do not flow easily • EX: plastic, rubber, glass, wood

ELECTROMAGNETS REVISITED Electromagnets are made of coils of wire with electricity passing through them. Moving charges create magnetic fields, so when the coils of wire in an electromagnet have an electric current passing through them, the coils behave like a magnet.
