When is the Test? • The test is on Thursday March 27th starting at 8:40 am.
Be here before 8:30 and at the classroom you are writing in by 8:30am
Where am I writing? • Have you checked the list that is posted at the main office and at guidance?
You need to know where you are writing before you come in on the morning of the 27th
This is your morning • 8:35am to 8:40am Warning music • 8:40 am Test Instructions Read in Classes • 8:45am to 10:00am Booklet 1 • 10:00am – 10:15am Break • 10:15am Test Instructions Read in Classes • 10:20 – 11:35 Booklet 2 • 11:35 – 11:45 Questionnaire • 11:45 – 12:30 Lunch
8:40 am Test Instructions Read in Classes • Need to be in your assigned class in your assigned seat with your assigned booklets
You will have a pen, pencil, eraser and maybe some water to drink but nothing else
From 8:45 to 10:00 am writing test • You will write your answers in the booklet and record multiple choice answers on the provided sheet
Break Time • 10:00 to 10:15 • Eat • Drink • Use the washroom • Be back on time for booklet 2
At 10:15 the Process starts again with Booklet 2 • Listen to the instructions • Start on booklet 2 • Continue recording multiple choice answers on the student answer sheet
But what if I am an ELL student or a Student with an IEP? • All students that are eligible for extended time or other accommodations will be writing in specified rooms • These students may be writing until 2:00pm
This is your afternoon AFTERNOON - ALL STUDENTS • 12:35 – 1:35 Period 3 • 1:40 – 2:55 Period 4
Tips to be successful on the OSSLTbefore the test • Practice the different tasks that you will be tested on • Use the moodle • Use the EQAO site • Pick up practice tests from Ms Harding • Know what EQAO is looking for • Be specific • Add details • Add examples
Tips to be successful on the OSSLTOn test day • Get a good nights sleep • Eat breakfast that morning • Answer all questions asked – do not leave any blanks • Answer the question asked • Read question carefully • Underline or highlight key words • Fill up lines on written responses • Short answers 6 lines • Newspaper report 1page • Series of Paragraphs 2 pages • Plan your answers in rough work area
