Dartmouth Partners in Community Service MISSION To inspire Dartmouth students to join with Dartmouth alumni and their families in addressing problems facing our society.

Dartmouth Partners in Community Service CONCEPT • DPCS acts as facilitator • DPCS, with Tucker Foundation, finds motivated Dartmouth undergraduates
Dartmouth Partners in Community Service CONCEPT (cont’d) • Dartmouth Alum or spouse or undergraduate identifies deserving CSO in his/her local town • Student serves as intern in local CSO • Dartmouth Alum often directly involved with CSO and serves as intern’s Mentor
Dartmouth Partners in Community Service STUDENT • Interested in community service • Looking to fulfill personal needs • Finds desired geographic location and type of CSO
Dartmouth Partners in Community Service ALUMNUS/AE or SPOUSE as CSO contact • Motivation to work with DPCS: give a little back • Motivation to help Dartmouth student realize his/her community service wish • Personally involved with CSO(s) • Support role: Financial and/or time
Dartmouth Partners in Community Service ALUMNUS/AE or SPOUSE as Mentor • Creates special relationship with College through and with student intern • Suggested contact with student during internship (at least 3 times) • Opportunity to establish longer-term bond with student intern
Dartmouth Partners in Community Service COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATION • Needs help addressing significant social issue • Has specific, meaningful and rewarding internship opportunity • Encourages community participation • Is non-profit and non-partisan

Dartmouth Partners in Community Service ALUMNI BOARD • Recruits/selects/evaluates Mentors and selected CSOs • Helps underwrite funding for stipends • Coordinates fund raising • Assists College in recruiting/selecting/ matching/evaluating student interns
Dartmouth Partners in Community Service ALUMNI (or SPOUSE) MENTOR • Ensures intern has meaningful experience • Counsels intern re: expectations, satisfaction, problems during internship, evaluation of internship • Provides support role with time and/or money • Monitors program’s success to direct future development/expansion
Dartmouth Partners in Community Service STUDENT INTERN • Contributes time and effort to local CSO • Maintains communication with mentor • Summarizes experience in writing
Dartmouth Partners in Community Service DARTMOUTH COLLEGE Tucker Foundation • Recruits, selects, matches, advises, evaluates interns in concert with Alumni Board • Provides on-campus administration and direction
Dartmouth Partners in Community Service COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATION • Designs and implements well-directed productive internship • Provides all/part of student stipend • Submits written evaluation of each completed internship
