  6. 2010 Accountability Process • Where and how to download files? • What about the SLAIF(s)? • How do I appeal and how long do I have? • What are the steps after the appeals window?

  7. Both state and federal accountability results have been loaded into a secure folder on Sharepoint. • There is a specific login process that uses the same username and password that you’ve previously used to complete your senior snapshot, cohort correction process, identify ELL students, etc. • Your username will be SD????@ors.ms where ???? Is your district number. • For example, Rankin County would use the username SD6100@ors.ms • Your password will be the same LLLLNNNN (where LLLL is a series of 4 letters unique to your district and NNNN is a series of 4 numbers unique to your district). A typical password would be qjut2953. • If you don’t remember your password, please call the Office of Research and Statistics at 601-359-1878 and we can send it to the superintendent only. Where and how to download files?

  8. What about the SLAIF(s)? • SLAIF files contain all the students considered in your accountability designations. • Like last year, there will be a separate SLAIF for the state and federal accountability models. • In accordance with the accountability timeline for 2010, the SLAIF files will be posted to your Sharepoint folder by Wednesday, August 4. • An email will be sent to the accountability listserv once the files are posted.

  9. How do I appeal and how long do I have? • In your “Supporting Documents” subfolder found in your AYP folder, there are two documents outlining the request for review and appeals process. • Print and distribute all acountabilityreports to school principals. • If it is believed that the results of either model applied to the district or to a school are in error for statistical or other substantive reasons, the school district may provide evidence to the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) to support that belief. • All requests for review must be submitted in writing.

  10. How do I appeal and how long do I have? • Must include a cover letter including: • Date • School and/or district (depending on the level of the appeal) • Signature of superintendent and principal(s) of involved schools. It is the responsibility of the school district to ensure that the MSIS ID of all students identified for consideration is included. Every student should be clearly identified and the specific reasons for consideration should be clearly articulated.

  11. Timeline and Delivery Procedure for Requests for Review and Appeals • If there is more than one school for which reviews are being requested, PLEASE submit in a single package. • All requests for review from a school district must be received at following address by 5:00pm on August 16, 2009. Request for Review Office of Research and Statistics Mississippi Department of Education PO Box 771 359 North West Street Jackson, MS 39205

  12. What are the steps after the appeals window? • The final determination from the reviews will be reflected in the final accountability results made available to districts on August 30, 2010. • The Commission on School Accreditation will consider the state accountability results and make recommendations for the State Board to approve on September 7. • After the Commission makes its recommendation, the “Unofficial” results will be released publicly.

  13. What are the steps after the appeals window? • The State Board will approve the final state and AYP results on September 10 after which the status will change to “Official”. • NCLB Report Cards will be posted to the web no later than September 17. • The NCLB Report Cards have been completely redesigned for the 2010 school year. • It will be mandatory for all districts to use the MDE-provided NCLB Report Cards.

  14. ORS Phone Number once again… 601-359-1878 And a walk-through of accessing data on Sharepoint.
