3. Continued • Liberal arts degree coupled with experience in the hospitality field may be sufficient • Hotels with fewer services- applicants with an associates degree or certificate in hotel, restaurant, or hospitality management along with experience

4. Employment • In 2008, 59,000 jobs were held in this field • However, the outlook is slower than average • The competition for these jobs is very high

5. Earning • Median annual wages- $45,800 • Middle 50%- $35,000- $63,000 • Lowest- less than $28,000 • Highest- greater than $84,000

6. Positives • May earn bonuses up to 25% of their annual salary • Also may be furnished with meals, parking, laundry, and other services • Some hotels even offer profit-sharing plans and educational assistance to their employees
