Moral and Ethical Issues As well as providing all the tools that can assist society the Internet Harbours tools that can debase society and individuals who use them. • Porn • Violence • Chatrooms • Gambling / Gaming
Starters • Each have an article on a topic • 5 minutes to summarise your findings and feedback to the group on the issues surrounding this topic.
Pornography • Allows easy access to “Top Shelf” Material • Alas also allows access to much more disturbing and illegal fetishes • As its so accessible, people believe its the norm, and look for it in the real world • Ruins relationships and objectifies woman • Child Pornography
Violence Many people use the anonymity the Internet Provides to attack people. Comments on Twitter Videos on YouTube bullying and doing homemade stunts!
Social Implications • With the Internet pervading society internationally, issues have arisen which affect the huge amount of users all around the globe.
Dominance of the English Language • On the Internet, English is the dominant language. This is because the Internet was developed in the USA and the UK and so English has become the language of Online Communication. • This could cause other users who do not speak English to be excluded, which is in opposition to the Internets principle of globalisation.
Blurring of National Boundaries The Internet is an international phenomenon which is having an effect on people all over the world. There can be an alienation of those who do not have access to the Internet or are non internet-literate. This could be in terms of people and countries which cannot take advantage of cheaper, faster business and tapping into the global marketplace.

Hackers Def : People who will attempt to access computer systems row which they do not have permission. Computer Systems are insecure, like a house, and just like a house windows and backdoors can be left open. Hackers can simply cause a disruption, or steal data and information
Identity Theft • An increasing problem • Bank Accounts can be opened, credit cards taken out, loans agreed... • Which they become the responsibility of whomever's details have been stolen
