  2. Key Signatures Terms • Key Signature: The sharp, flat or natural signs placed at the beginning of a staff indicating the key of the music. • The first pitch of every major scale is do.   7. Flats The next to the last flat is the Major key. Sharps Last sharp is the “Ti” of the Major scale. How To Determine Major Key The 2nd last flat is E, so the key is E flat major. The last sharp is A, so the key is B Major.

  8. Flats With the exception of F Major, every other flat major key has “flat” as part of its name. This is because the name of the key is flatted in the key signature.
