  2. Introductions Miss Angela Lollino • Second year teaching at Saint James School • BS in Elementary Education with endorsement in Teaching English as a Second Language.

  3. Introductions Mrs. Kari Resch • 18th Year teaching kindergarten at St. James • 22 years experience • BS in Education with emphasis in Early Childhood for USD. Endorsement in Special Education from Morningside. “If you can dream it, you can do it.” -Walt Disney

  4. Introductions Mrs. Angela O’Brien • 7th year teaching Early Childhood • Alum of St. James School & St. Viator High School • BS in Early Childhood Education with minor in Special Education • Recently got married at St. James on 6/29/19

Classroom Expectations • Follow Classroom and School Rules • Individual Behavior Plan/Behavior Calendar • Green, Yellow, and Red • Varies by teacher • Parents will be contacted when student ends the day on red • PBIS – Positive Behavior Intervention & Support • Students earn ’Bulldog Bucks’ when positive behavior is seen by the teacher. • Students can earn rewards individually or combine bucks as a class.

Important Information • Mystery Bag • Circulates throughout class • Birthdays • Celebrate with a snack from the SJS approved list • ½ birthdays will be celebrated • Birthday reader is welcome to share a story • Scholastic Reading Club • Book order forms and code • Family Heritage Project • February • 15 minute presentations

Important Information • Community Helpers • Parents visit and share about their jobs • Field Trips • Goebbert’s Pumpkin Farm in the Fall • Monday, September 30th • Lottery for Parent Volunteers • End-of-the-year Picnic • Second Step • Teaches social/emotional skills for school and life • Artist Awareness • Parent volunteers introduce children to varied artists

  8. Homework • Read for 15-20 minutes every night • Practice Jolly Phonics sounds • Practice high frequency words • Word Box Homework • Starts in October • Math Homework • Starts in November • Spelling Homework • Starts in January

Seesaw • Online student portfolio • Students share work with parents & teacher • Easy way to communicate, send out reminders, see photos of what is going on in the classroom • Each child has unique QR code - only parents can see what their child is doing! What can you do to help? • Encourage your child to read daily or read to you • Practice reading letters and making its sound at home • Practice high frequency words at home • Check e-mail frequently for communication • Read through the weekly newsletter • Check your child’s M.O.O.S.E. daily! • Do not hesitate to contact us with concerns or questions
