  2. Defining Economic Development and Employment • Our Action Team focused on strategies that include: • Educating families • Working with the community as a whole – residents and businesses • Financial planning and education • Partnership and relationship building • Training

  3. Our Long-Term Objectives • Within 2 years, we hope to • Have a fundraising and fund development plan for Cody/Rouge • Develop ways to attract businesses to the neighborhood

  4. Our Short-Term Objectives • Training on entrepreneurship and skilled trades • Identify individuals willing to lead training on entrepreneurship and skilled trades • Identify vacant buildings that could be occupied by businesses • Training of basic computer skills • Include typing, Microsoft Office, Internet, and online tax preparation • Community clean-up • Work with businesses to organize a clean-up of the business areas in the neighborhood

  5. Kids Corp. Coming this Summer! • Job readiness training and temporary employment for teenagers • Up to 100 jobs for Cody/Rouge youth • Youth shadow local businesses and work with residents doing work at homes • Two weeks of employability and job readiness training

  6. We want to see Cody/Rouge youth prepared for the future!

  7. Our results • Confident youth who know what they want for their future • Business owners employing community youth • New businesses and home owners in the community • Clean streets and a clean neighborhood • Jobs are plentiful • Cody/Rouge residents have community funding to use for community projects

  8. Get involved!!!!! • Join our Action Team! Youth, residents, business owners, church members, teachers – everyone is welcome!! • Get involved with Kids Corp!! Sign up to participate, hire a youth, or volunteer your help
