The birds. This work looks like an ordinary picture but you can see something more. When I look at this picture I really feel space and freedom. This seems to be lively, colourful and distinct. I am absolutely convinced that it’s a symbol of light-hearted life. There is no alarm, troubles and sufferings. It could be a sunny day with a lot of love and quietness around the birds. You can feel the breath of the wind, the touch of the sun, the warmth of the air. If you touched it, the birds would not fly away and they would stay with you.

The Sea. This beautiful watercolour picture was painted and designed by our classmate ОlgaEvdokimova. I remember her to present our teacher with it in 2004. The sun leaves the horizon and there comes silence. There are only warm and soft colours and there are no sharp lines in this picture. I imagine being at the seacoast. Calmness surrounds me. I close my eyes and breathe this pure, fresh sea air. Cries of seagulls are heard somewhere. The sea nature is elusive. It forces you to dream. At this moment you think only about everything that is good and all sorrows, sad thoughts disappear. The sea becomes quieter and you are completely relaxed. You can see shapes of a steamship. At this moment you feel extraordinary freedom and you want your darling to be with you.
My soul. This original picture was painted by Alina Yermilova. She finished school in 2005. Its name is “my soul”. That makes it mysterious and not ordinary. What is a soul? We cannot see or touch it. It isn’t materialistic. So you can see an eye and you know that an eye is a “mirror of a soul”. It is an interesting symbol; it’s an attribute of modern art. You can see one half of a heart on the background. As far as I can see this is a symbol of unlucky love and it makes viewers feel a profound importance of this composition. The bright flame is a symbol of “bright soul” and keen emotions. It could be a sign that her soul will “live even after unlucky love”. This picture is painted in original style and it appears that it’s a “symbolism”, even graffiti .The elegance of shapes makes it unordinary and interesting. I think that this composition can attract a lot of young people to any gallery.
"My soul". When strong emotions tear my soul to pieces I like to draw. It helps me to calm and to understand myself. Moreover I get beautiful and interesting pictures as a result of this useful work. Such images are attractive for others: I don’t draw something determined just an abstraction and every man could find different sense in my pictures. For example, that work was painted after a quarrel with my boyfriend. I felt the emptiness and cold inside. He seemed to break my heart. In a moment all his other previous pleasant words and feelings became nothing. I felt just my heart was broken. And the eye symbolizes the recovery of me and my soul’s sight (прозрение) and at the same time the suffering of my soul. After all, the eyes are the soul’s mirror. This eye is very expressive. I tried to show it a little bit moist to create a perception it could start crying every second. And the fire on the background of the picture symbolizes the burning pain and flaming and passionate fire of love. This fire is hurtful and creative. It burns the soul inside but makes me create such beautiful pictures, write lyrics, become wiser and understand people deeply. Everyone can percept this picture differently, according to his life story and feelings you get inside at the moment of looking at it. Any time you look at this picture you can find more and more new feelings and emotions there.
“Art is for everybody. There is no ‘right’ interpretation of art – every person understands it in her own way. You just see and feel what you feel.”
All of you are very creative and talented. Thank you for the lesson. I wish you luck.
