Knowledge Promotion and Social Network? The Experience from Core Platforms for Digital Contents Project. Chen Tai-ying P.A. & editor of TELDAP e-newsletter Core Platforms for Digital contents Project, TELDAP Asia-Pacific Culture Mortal Summit2010.01.21
Knowledge Promotion and Social Network? • What Core Platforms for Digital Contents Project have done • The Tide is coming! • Happy farm? • Whose history? • Where is the know-how? • Conclusions
What Core Platforms for Digital Contents Project have done • To integrate, preserve, and demonstrate the digital assets produced by all TELDAP projects.
What we have done • Union Catalog • Collections Portal Site • Creative Comic collection • TELDAP e-newsletter
TELDAP e-newsletter • Established in 2002 • The media of TELDAP • Stories, Images and video
The Tide is coming! • BBS, MSN and blog have been popular in Taiwan for several years. • Facebook is the champion of 2009, and plurk is living well. • What We Did? We join them.
The Tide is coming! What Happened? • The Visits of TELDAP e-newsletter 2009 • 3.11% from Plurk+Facebook
The Tide is coming! Plurk V.S. FB • Plurk: Establish a bridge between you and strangers • Facebook: Bring the ones you have known COME BACK to your life • The Shock of 27,030
The Tide is coming! • The connection between TELDAP e-newsletter and readers • Listening and Interaction • New Ideas or even Knowledge…Martial art in Taiwan
Happy farm? • Happy farm is a popular online game. • “Steal vegetables” • Happy farm = FB? • Promise me that you are not PLAYING! 網路有很多陷阱,要小心!
Happy farm? • Stay calm and keep an open mind • I am not the slave of computer but computer is my slave…
Whose history? • The Political situation of Taiwan: Pan Blue (KMT) v.s. Pan Green(DPP) • The identity of country, attitude toward history are totally different.
Whose history? • Yoichi Hatta (八田與一, 1886-1942) • Japanese engineer who designed the Wusanto reservoir. • Wusanto has been a popular scenic area since 1969.(KMT ruling era)
So, after I shared the film about the reservoir on Plurk, I received the following comment: ”The film you just posted was produced by the KMT government. It is only the KMT’s Propaganda to raise Chinese Nationalism and delete the memory of Mr. Hatta from Taiwanese.” Whose history?
Whose history? • History, memory, religion are still sensitive issues in Taiwan. • Each person has her/his own way to interpret the world…and then action… • Trying to seek a balance.
Where is the know-how? • Cultural and Academic field V.S. Technology and Industry • The gap between Humanity and the REAL world • Where is the know-how? • As for me: Business readings
Conclusions • Digitization is merely the begin of the journey. • You want more participation? Join the crowds, find out what they like, or even take the lead… • Know-how can be acquired. • Collaboration between different fields…Cultural Technology. • Open Mind.
