What role do lighthouses play? • Lighthouses have traditionally assisted ships traveling along the coast at night to find their way. • Lighthouses have also assisted lost travelers in finding their way to shore.

Where are these lighthouses? • Lighthouses are located along a coast or large body of water. North Carolina’s lighthouses are located along the Outer Banks. • These lighthouses are sometimes the only draw for the town or city and others are only one among other attractions
How tall are these lighthouses? • These lighthouses are all the “tall” type not shaped like actual houses. • They range in height from 76 feet to 225 feet tall. • Is there a reason they are this tall?
