History • Purchased WebFOCUS and iWAY ETL solutions in 2001 • Provides data ETL tools for creation and update of data warehouse • Addresses reporting needs from ERP system, legacy data, and new DB2 warehouse • Replaced all other reporting tools and helped consolidate databases • Provides almost ALL reporting functionality
Environment • Currently running WebFOCUS and iWay servers on Z/OS, z/Linux, and IBM P7 Linux systems accessing DB2, ADABAS, SQL Server, and FOCUS databases • ReportCaster and WebFOCUS Client on P7Linux with Tomcat Web & App Server • Active Reports license • Flex Enable license
Staffing • Me (previously full-time, now part-time) • Two part-time WebFOCUS developers • One full-time Data Migrator (data warehouse) specialist • IBI consulting
Recent Initiatives • Completed 3 to 6 month reporting initiatives with Underwriting, Finance, Claims, and Safety departments • Discovered that parameterized reporting was the preferred solution
Recent Initiatives • Moving almost ALL reporting from our legacy production system (TORCS) and integrating reporting functionality with WebFOCUS and ReportCaster • One version of the “truth” • No more fixed fonts, “ugly” mainframe reports • Outputs to PDF and Postscript – technology update • Use of graphics, colors, bar codes, custom fonts • Allows for automated bursting , sorting, stuffing, and delivery
