  5. Complications of hypertension • Damage to heart and blood vessels • May lead to: • Ministrokes • Heart failure • Heart attack • Kidney failure /damage • Vision problems

  6. Hypertension therapies • Medication • Diuretics • ACE inhibitors • Beta blockers • Calcium channel blockers • Decreasing dietary salt and fat intake • Weight loss in patients with BMI ≥25kg/m2 • Avoid excessive alcohol consumption • Regular exercise regimen

  7. Prototype • Forum for answering patient questions • Answers should not require access to patient chart • Combination of internet, telephone, etc. (We’re still working on this.)
