The Pros • Empowers the students and the parents • Enhances communication with families • Meets students where they are at • Expands the boundaries of the classroom • Facilitates customized, multi-dimensional, multi-sensory learning
The Cons • Technology substitutes virtual experiences for real ones • Undermines textual sills • Diminishes the role and authority of the teacher • Requires skill and time on the part of the teacher • There is some ethically questionable behaviors that can arise

Wikispaces • Put All Classroom Resources In One Place • Parents and Students Can Interact with Postings • Great Way to Share Classroom Work and Information
Social Networking Sites • Create a family/classroomsocial action group project • Communicate with parents by forming a Facebookgroup • Send a tweet after class about the day
YouTube/Videos • Record, edit, and upload a classroom video project for parents to view
Email/Blogs • Email is a great way to communicate with parents in newsletter format. • Blogs are a great way to communicate with families about the daily schedule and activities happening in the classroom or to encourage students and families to participate in a dialogue surrounding a topic of study.
