Overview • Look back at Heavy Rain/SvrWx event last Friday/Saturday • Widespread rain showers and embedded Tstorms anticipated tomorrow (Tuesday) • Next significant rain/storm event possible around Sunday • Tropics rather quiet
Rainfall last Friday through Saturday • Widespread Heavy • Rainfall (> 1 inch) • Rainfall very beneficial • to ending end-of-summer • dry spell • Flooding quite limited as • dry ground and vegetation • quickly soaked up moisture • Some of the lightest rain • totals occurred in portions • of the Delta where recent • deficits are the highest… • which is somewhat • unfortunate
5 Tornadoes occurring across central/southern Mississippi late Friday into early Saturday morning
Weak Low currently spinning along old frontal boundary in the Western Gulf
Disturbance Passage Tomorrow (Tuesday)
Rainfall Expected Tuesday • Rainfall should occur primarily during the daylight hours (although beginning in some locations a little before daybreak) • Latest model data suggests heaviest rainfall totals may be more concentrated in eastern Mississippi • These amounts likely should not present a problem, although very isolated and localized flooding issues still cannot be ruled out
Tropical Outlook Tropics remain rather quiet with minor area of disturbed weather in the western Gulf not expected to develop into an organized tropical cyclone NOW We are starting to get past the traditional peak in the Atlantic Basin Tropical Season
