Develop mechanisms to pool and share experiences across office network to get added value Look for opportunities for involving WI staff in own capacity building activities Check texts in global and regional strategies to include: Avoided costs are as important as increased income for livelihoods (bio)diversity is an adaptive strategy Livelihoods CT1

Work on CT 5 and 6 is closely related in certain RBs and so should be linked (water allocation and mgt is key to both) – group in CTLs? ? China should work on these targets – the experience in Africa and Asia is very relevant Food security is an underlying issue affecting our work on water – need to build our position and knowledge on this – FAO partnership is opportunity Need to define/ set out the WI approach to water management – in relation to different target groups Need to define WI niche in “climate-proofing” , as this is a major influence on water management decisions Should use our WASH experiences (LAC, Africa, Asia) to influence donors and aid organisations International platforms/ fora should be used to support the transboundary work with RBO’s Water CT 5,6
Ecosystem restoration concessions are a key strategy for CT7 Need to identify opportunities to broaden carbon project areas beyond Indonesia e.g. Brunei, Russia True benefits include for livelihoods and biodiversity – need to combine in our evaluations Global and regional policy advocacy in different international for a must be linked with site work (e.g. UNFCCC, EU, RSPO etc) CT8 opportunities in developed and developing countries – but success depends on lobby at national levels – action needed by WI network of offices – guidance from hq needed Climate mitigation CT 7,8
Clarify WI strategy to address CCA and DRR operates at 3 levels (community, RB plans, national policy) Use our inter-sectoral examples and ecosystem approaches to help redefine “ risk” and therefore approaches to resilience Need to develop WI approach to address Basin level preparedness (policy interventions) – this is not in the planned actions so far Use strategic partnerships as a key way to take these targets forward Identify what data WI could contribute towards EM-DAT Develop niche on climate-proofing (links between CT 5,9,10) Mali & Fiji should liaise on work that is connecting diseases and flood/drought risk scenarios Need to raise awareness that wetlands are key in influencing dynamics of human migration in disaster response Climate and DRR CT 9,10
Need to check if the strategy excel table is complete for CT 11, 12 CT9 5 cases are not all planned – need to be reactive to major development threats Offices need to work together along trade chains for CT 12 Need to clarify that CT11 is geographically defined and CT 12 is about production systems/ trade chains – check Strategic Intent and regional strategy explanations Need to analyse what relevant impacts will come with changes to European trade system Need to organise ourselves to work and have impact at different scales (global, regional, national, site) Will need to build in some flexible and rapid response approaches Greening the Economy CT 11,12
