Target Market The current market is being supplied by geysers that are made from old technology and are expensive. The largest growth sector in the South African housing market is made up of low cost and RDP homes. The current install base of Government built RDP houses is well over 2.5 million homes built post 1994. The Department of Human Settlements has a current target to build 20 000 RDP houses per month until 2014.
Statistics The current challenges The Department of Minerals and Energy, described geysers as the "biggest guzzlers of electricity in households" in South Africa. South African households consume approximately 24% of the country’s energy and a substantial amount of energy savings is possible within the residential sector. In South Africa, electricity is a lot cheaper than in many other countries so we have not yet developed the instinct of being energy savers. A target for households of 10% reduction in energy use by2015 has been set by the Department of Minerals and Energy. From a local survey , we are aware that people in low-cost housing are fitting high pressure geysers in their homes, resulting in high volumes of water being utilized and having to pay larger electrical bills. The homeowners are wasting money on geysers that don't fit the size of a home. We recommend that smaller homes must use 40L units in order to save water and money. Domestic average electricity consumption per annum
Concerns with Solar as it stands for RDP, LSM • Rebate program – 150L,200L,300L geysers plus • Where do we fit in ? • SABS Certification – SESSA around R80k • Why so expensive , someone is pocketing • Target rebate market – Expensive geysers • Varies from R2,500 upwards on deliverables, spec ? • No allocation for RDP, LSM • Roof Weight problem in houses ? • Current weight exceeds 180kg • Potential market also for Commercial ? • Use more than 30% of current Eskom Power • Deloitte Rebates payback very slow • Very few people have been paid back so far

Some FAQ What happens if the geyser is attached to a shower and the shower tap is closed , will it build up pressure and what pressure can the geyser withstand No the geyser is a push through or open end geyser, so this cannot happen, the unit needs to be plumbed so the end or in this case the shower rose is always open, see attached picture of a units fitted in Olievenhoutbosch township, shower and bath examples shown. A family of four, 2 kids and 2 adults are now all bathing and showering in the mornings. What happens if the element jams or freezes, will the geyser shut off Yes the unit by SABS safety standards must incorporate 3 safety devices, 1st is the adjustable thermostat with a maximum temperature setting of 70degc, if this device fails the unit incorporates a non self resetting thermal limit switch set at 75degc. If this device fails because the unit is of an open outlet design the water will boil and steam will vent out the open end, thus building up non pressure, this is an extremely safe design, provided the unit is installed correctly. What temperature can the geyser tank withstand The unit by SABS standards for open end water heaters must withstand boiling point. Polyamide 66 with 30% glass is used wildly in the automotive industry for components such as radiator caps, pipe etc, engine covers and intake manifolds. The melting point of this imported polymer material is an impressive 258deg, so the material is no where near its limits, see data sheet. Standing loss of 1.5kh/per hour mean Simply put the unit has incredible heat retaining properties, due to the polymer tank being a very poor conductor of heat and the noepor(special grade of polystyrene which has 20% better insulation). We measured that at an ambient temperature of around 24degc, the water temperature of 65deg only dropped 3deg over 12 hours, so only 0,25deg per hour. SABS This is a SABS safety test report, will email a copy. SABS issues an LOA, Letter of authority will email a copy. The LOA is a certificate allowing this product to be sold in SA.
