  9. EDAM 2 Academic • Organizing for courses and enrolling is a required first step to learning at TU Delft. • Enroll • Familiarize with Blackboard • Make timetable • Buy stationary • Notebooks, textbooks, printer, etc… • Setup computer • Install any course-specific required programs

  10. EDAM 2 Academic • As a new student, knowing the location of resources on campus is crucial for success. • Learn campus map • Locations(ex. Department, Library, IT Services, etc…) • Learn facilities • Borrowing books from library • Printing services • IT services • Student Card

  12. EDAM 2 Social • Language is extremely important to understand the environment around us. • Basic words • Hello, Good Morning, Thank You, Sorry, etc… • Hoi, Goedemorgen, dankjewel, het spijt me, etc… • Asking information from others (ex. directions) • Menus • Groceries

  13. EDAM 2 Social • Having a bike is a requirement for quick travel in and around Delft (and the Netherlands). • Fit in • be a part of the culture/society • Preferred method of transportation • More economical • No schedule (ex. Tram) • Easier to make plans together

EDAM 2 Social • Reaching out to friends (and new friends) in various ways will help you settle in at TU Delft. • Phone • Crucial to get in touch with people • Nightlife • Socialize outside of the classroom setting • Hobbies • Sports, Arts, Music, Clubs, Travel, etc… • International Society/Clubs

  15. EDAM 2 Conclusion • We feel that an international student needs to settle “Personal” matters before “Academic” and “Social” for acculturation. • Require “Personal” environment to be fully set up in order to properly reach out to others and be comfortable in the new environment at TU Delft.
