Q&A FAQ and Common Issues http://nodal.ercot.com 6
FAQ / Common Issues • Why was the field “Unit Start Date” changed to “Unit Commercial Date”? • From the guide “Unit Commercial Date shall mean the date on which Generator declares that the construction of the Plant has been substantially completed, Trial Operation of the Plant has been completed, and the Plant is ready for dispatch.” • This was changed to conform to the collection of the Unit Commercial date which is required by Protocol Section 4.4.9.4, Mitigated Offer Cap and Mitigated Offer Floor. http://nodal.ercot.com 7
FAQ / Common Issues • Is the Reactive curve submitted with or without capacitor and reactors? • The curve is submitted without the effect of any installed capacitors and/or reactors. Those are listed separately on the “Capacitor and Reactor” data tab. • At what point is the reactive capability measured? • The reactive capability is considered to be at the location where the equivalent generator is modeled (typically the low side of the transformer). http://nodal.ercot.com 8
FAQ / Common Issues • What is the relationship between MW4 on the Reactive data and HRL? • The value MW4 is the fourth point on the reactive data which forms the reactive capability curve (not to be confused with the MW4 SCADA value). HRL is the High Reasonable Limit of the Resource. The MW4 value should be above the HRL value to ensure that the Reactive curve extends the entire range of valid telemetry values. http://nodal.ercot.com 9
FAQ / Common Issues • What do I need to show for the normal breaker position for the breaker between the Resource and the Grid? • The breaker normal position for any breaker between the Resource and the connection to the Transmission system needs to be normally closed. Otherwise, the Resource will not be able to be deployed by RUC. http://nodal.ercot.com 10
