Aluminum master Provide Swimming pool screen enclosure in Naples Planned to put a screen enclosure around his new swimming pool until the four cost estimates came in. "I would pay it if I thought it was worth it”, “But I decided I didn't want a pool enclosure anymore. I don't want to be sitting by my pool looking at the screen enclosure, thinking about how much I paid for it. I couldn't enjoy my pool." Downs is one of a growing group of homeowners deciding not to enclose his swimming pool with a screen. The storms damaged so many pool enclosures, plus home construction was so strong that many enclosure builders were more than a year behind. Though Stone says his business remains strong, he wouldn't be surprised to see the pool screen enclosure portion of his work fall off some in the future. "I would say that it is fixing to come, to be honest," Stone says. "The average homeowner with a budget might not be able to afford to put the screens in." Granted, there are times when screens are a must-have, says Manley. For instance, a homeowner whose pool is surrounded by trees or who has high populations of mosquitoes would want protection.
But John Wetzel, owner of Advanced Water shapes in Clermont, who is building Tony Downs' pool, says often people think they need a screen enclosure when they don't. "Candidly, it depends on what your personal use of the pool is going to be and where you are at," he says. "If it's kids who are swimming, they are usually swimming in the middle of the day [when bugs are less of a problem]. Unless you are going to be doing a lot of nighttime entertaining around the pool, you might not need one." Ridding pools of the boundaries of screen enclosures opens up the backyard to many more pool- siting options and landscaping possibilities. "When you design a pool without an enclosure, you can be more creative with carving out the pool and making it more natural and unique," says Bowles. For some clients, who are nervous about not including a screen, Aluminum master LLC offers the option of pouring the footers for a screen enclosure at the same time the deck is built in case they want to build one later.
