As the race drew to a close, Baby T was located off the coast of Dalmah, ranging over a wide area to the north and east of the island, in western Abu Dhabi. Taking the turtle tagging team by surprise after emerging from the water in the afternoon (most turtles nest at night time), C now resides on the west side of Qatar close to the Zikreet peninsula after travelling more than 300km during the race. Measuring 72.5 cm in Curved Carapace length and carrying a monel tag bearing number QU0368, C was fitted with a shiny new transmitter to keep the Marine Turtle Conservation Project up-to-date with her movements. She emerged to lay eggs on a beach inside RasLaffan Industrial City, Qatar at 6.30pm and by 9.30pm she was still laying eggs. It seemed to take forever, but after laying 93 eggs she was fitted with a transmitter and has been sending signals of her locations ever since. Salome was already known to the Qatar Turtle Project as she carried titanium tags QA0330 and QA0331.
