Triple X Syndrome • Genotype: XXX “metafemales” • Incidence: 1 in 1000 female births • Symptoms: Taller and more slender than average, emotionally immature during childhood, potential learning disabilitities, otherwise normal and fertile
Klinefelter’s Syndrome • Genotype: XXY • Incidence: 1 in 500 male births • Symptoms: Sterility, increased incidence of mental deficiency, partial breast development, small testes, less hair, higher-pitched voice • Many individuals are phenotypically normal!
XYY Syndrome • Genotype: XYY “super-male” • Incidence: 1 in 1500 male births • Symptoms: Higher likelihood of tall height and below-average intelligence, some studies suggest a predisposition towards violence, slender, severe acne, poor coordination
