This study outlines the importance of mapping constructed surface area density in China, focusing on the city of Yueyang with a population of around 5.4 million. The methods include data acquisition, image classification using Light Picker, regression model development, and parameter estimation with polynomial fit. Utilizing lights to predict impervious surface area, 30 points were chosen for estimation, particularly in areas around Shanghai and Beijing. The table of results and conclusion highlight the significance of mapping impervious surface area density for urban planning and environmental management in China.
