Journal Set Up • Turn to the Natural Texas and Its People tab in your composition book. Turn to the first 2 blank pages. • Number the left page #1. Number the right Page #2 • On the left hand side of the page title it “Historians Dividing the Past” • Title the right page “Eras of Texas”
Definitions • On the left hand side (page 1) write the following definitions: • Historian – an expert in or student of history • Era– a fixed point in time from which a series of years is reckoned • Chronology - the arrangement of events or dates in the order of their occurrence.
Era Flashcards • You have the Texas Era Flash Cards in the basket on your desk. • With your group members, look at the pictures and titles on each flashcard. Using context clues (pictures and titles) place the flashcards in chronological order. • What era of Texas history came first? What era of Texas History came second? And so on….. • Be ready to share out why you put the cards in a particular order.
