Tsunami • Tsunami comes from two words from Japan: Tsu meaning Harbor and nami meaning wave so Harbor Wave. • Tsunamis are more of an secondary effect of most natural disasters. • Tsunamis are caused by many things including meteor strikes on the surface, underground explosions, hurricanes, but most of all earthquakes. • Also Tsunamis cause floods by washing all the waves and water in. • Most Tsunamis occur in or near the ring of fire. • Ring of fire is a phrase referring to a danger zone that has many coastal volcanic eruptions and high extreme intensity earthquakes.
Tsunami of Thailand 2004 • This earthquake measured to be over 9 on the Richter Scale causing a huge Tsunami killing over 5395 people and destroying 4806 houses. • The first wave of the Tsunami measured 6-7 meters high and the Second was 10 meters high the finally the last strike was 5 meters high • This force has been building up in bowl(ocean) for over 100 years and finally let it go shaking the underground sea and shooting out massive waves.
More facts • This Tsunami stretched all the way from Africa to Thailand and lasted hours. • The damage was so huge it cost 31.75 million USD to fix just the south of Thailand! • It cost 2.6 for emergency phase assistance and 38.3 for recovery! • Tsunamis are also know as the Wave Train because series of wave pass by one after another.
Height of The Tsunami • Grown ups are around 5-7 feet but the Tsunami was about 5-9 times taller than them . 60% died because there not tall enough to withstand the pressure.
How not to die 1.Stay away from the beach or near an ocean. 2. Go to the highest point possible.(every inch or meter counts toward your survival)(not really) 3.Start running before you see the Tsunami because the wave move faster than a person can run! 4.Get up to 10m or more to be kinda safe but 100m is the way to go 5.Do not grab any personal belongings just medical kits incase of injures. 6.DO NOT TAKE PICTURES(or the tsunami will swallow you)
Area that been damaged by Tsunami • Thailand had been hit so hard there population in the south nearly dropped to zero. 15% of their company closed down causing many people losing there jobs no tourist came for the cause of them being to scared to be killed by other surprising Tsunami attack. • The areas attack were mostly on the coast. In Thailand Krabi, Phuket, Phang-nga, and many other cities near the coast were damaged.
