LEARNING OBJECTIVE • To enable the children know and follow the traffic rules. • To enable them to understand the significance of traffic lights. The children become aware of the probable hazards that can happen if they do not follow the safety rules at road. The safety rules learnt now ,helps the child throughout his life. He realizes that he is responsible for his own safety.
CLASS ACTIVITY DRAMATIZATION Zebra crossing will be placed and 4 - 5 children will stand to cross the road. Ask them to see the signal and then cross the road when the light is red. some of the children will act as car and drive when the signal is green. (Bodily Kinesthetic)
MOTIVATTION • Different colors will be shown to the children and introduction will be done with the song…. • There are three colors we see on the road, (3 times), there are 3 colors we see on the road, RED, YELLOW & GREEN, • Red light says STOP (9 times) Red light says stop, stop, stop, what does the yellow light say. • Yellow light says GET READY (3 times), yellow light says get ready, what does the GREEN light say, • Green light says GO (9 times), Green light says GO, These 3 colors we see.
Presentation • Cross the road when the “walk” signal is on. Never lean out of the car or school bus or put your hands or head out • Never play on the road.

RULES - ON THE ROAD • Look at the Traffic light. • Cross when the light is red. • When there is no traffic light, then look first to the right, then to the left and look again to the right. • If no vehicle is coming, then cross the road.
Group activity • 1.Signal cut out will be given to one group where the children will have to fill the correct colour in the order of Red, Yellow & Green. (Interpersonal/Intrapersonal) 2. Another group will be given a (12 piece) puzzle of zebra crossing where they will have to put the puzzle in the order. 3. Third group will be given cut out of stop and go man picture in which they will have to fill the right color. (Interpersonal/Intrapersonal)
SONG Red light-(2) what do you say? I say STOP, STOP STOP. Yellow light-(2) what do you say? I say WAIT , WAIT, WAIT. Green light –(2) what do you say? I say GO , GO, GO. Thank you –(2)red, yellow, green. Now I know what traffic light mean.
ART & CRAFT ACTIVITY ART BOOK WILL BE GIVEN TO THE CHILDREN WHERE EACH CHILD WITH HELP OF THE CLASS TEACHER WILL DRAW THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND COLOUR THE LIGHTS IN PROPER ORDER i.e - RED, YELLOW & GREEN
Class activity • Collage A signal cut out will be put on the chart paper with three circles in white. Each child will be given a small round cut out of red, yellow or green. They should stick the colour in the right circle. (Leadership qualities)
ASSIGNMENT • A worksheet will be given where the children will have to color the right picture and cross the wrong picture.
EVALUATION EXERCISE • Questions will be asked on Road safety, Where to cross on the road, should you play on the road, do you put your hands out of the moving car or bus etc.
EVALUATION EXERCISE • EVALUATION-The awareness of each child will be evaluated individually through the classroom activity. Questions will be asked on the topic-How will you keep yourself safe on the road? What are the things that should not be done in the on the road ?How will you play with your friends, in the park on the pavement or road.
