INTRODRUCTION In this presentation, I'm going to teach some farm and wild animals in order to my students can learn the use of “can and cannot”. The Audio-lingual method was used by immigrants in the second world war showing excellent outcomes. So that, I select this method to teach this topic. Beginning from, several investigations and my own experience I have noticed that students enjoy learning English Through pictures, images and sounds. This another reason, why I select this kind of material for teaching this topic.
OBJECTIVES • General objective: • To get students learn the correct use of “ can and cannot”, • To teach students some farm and wild animals to use “can and cannot”, in context . • Students will develop an activity on internet in order to put in practice the structure seen.
Listen to the sounds and guess mouse horse duck goat sheep cow
chicken dog cat pig
Can bark Can eat a lot pig dog
Can squeak mouse Can miaow cat
chicken Can climb Can sing monkey
Can drinkmilk Can jump kangaroo cat
Can Give milk horse Can neigh cow
Can kill Can fly bird fish
Can Eat carrots Can swim fish rabbit
Some basic rules for the use of “can and cannot” • We use can for expressing what can do a person or an animal in an affirmative way. • For example : The cat can miaow. • We use cannot for expressing an action that an animal or a person cannot do or develop. • For example: the cat can miaow , but it cannot bark. • We must not add s at the end of verbs in third person. • For example the dog can bark but it cannot miaow.
What can they do? They can miaow
Can they bark? No, they can’t.
Can they miaow? No, they cannot.
Now you are going to listen to the sounds and repeat the verb. Then , make your own examples: For example : bark! The dog can bark, but it cannot miaow.
The End Thanks
