Library’s Virtual Presence • Does the school library have: • A Twitter account • A Facebook page • A blog • A wiki • Collaborative software (e.g., SharePoint, etc.) • Wireless internet access for students • A link from the school website’s homepage directing users to the library’s website/online resources
Professional Environment • Does the school library have an advisory committee? • Does someone from the school library staff: • Meet regularly with the principal and/or other building or district administrators? • Participate in school committees (e.g., curriculum, technology, PTO, etc.)? • Provide in-service training for teachers (e.g., information literacy, educational technology, etc.?)
Teaching Approaches of the Librarian (Part 1) • How often do you engage in the following activities? • Plan instructional units w/teachers • Teach students cooperatively w/teachers • Facilitate learning activities where students work collaboratively in groups • Teach students how to use digital resources • Facilitate opportunities for student-led inquiry

Examples of databases include: • Newspaper Source and TOPICsearch (both accessible from EBSCOhost) • Middle Search and Primary Search (both accessible from EBSCO’s Searchausaurus) • eLibrary Curriculum Edition and SIRS Researcher (accessible from ProQuest’seLibrary and SIRS, respectively)
