  2. It’s a liturgical feast in honor of Saint Peter, one of Christ’s apostles and also honors his martyrdom in Rome  It is most known in the north of Portugal and it’s celebrated by the population on the 29th of June.

Celebrations in Portugal These festivities are similar to the other popular saints feasts, the tradition says that people must decorate the streets with lots of colors, lights and the special plant that characterizes this, the manjericos. Also known by its balls and parades full of fun and movement with special clothes, designed and made specially for this occasion.

  4. Gastronomy: Sardine, Caldoverde, Broa and lots of wine. In some cities, like Póvoa do Varzim, Sintra and Bombarral it is so important, they consider it a municipal holiday.
