  9. Have you been part of an initiative where change in practice was being implemented on a large scale? What worked? What could have gone better? How did that go?

  10. Implementation ”The process of moving an idea from concept to reality” Implementation SCIENCE is the study of “how” to go about putting new ideas or practices into wide spread use with fidelity.

  11. For implementation • Putting a new program, innovation (a new way of working) or practices in place • AND to spread and sustain the practices or the new way of working over time. • All called implementation frameworks

  12. All the frameworks provide Ideas and actions to MAKE change happen not to sit by and watch or hope it happens

  13. The “Active Implementation Framework” http://sisep.fpg.unc.edu/ Research developed into the “Active Implementation Frameworks” by the State Implementation and Scaling up of Evidenced-Based Practices Center (SISEP) funded by OSEP

  15. Have you seen it? • Has it been used? • How are you using it? • Are you using it as a whole or in parts? • Who are your teams? • How are you using technology? • How/Where do PD & TA fit?

Being used by… • RRCP’S all have an implementation specialist • Many of the tools and resources will be part of the SSIP process (new indicator 11) • ECTA center has a focus of work on Implementation process tied to both the DEC recommended practices and the ECTA system framework. • Many others in the EC field are seeing implementation frameworks as an important part of their models or approaches being adopted.

  17. If anything is to really change and be sustained then: • Need to understand personal and organizational change • Involve people at various levels of the system and program • Carefully planned • Helped” to happen • Understood by all • Clearly describe practices • Supported throughout the process by leadership • Reviewed and evaluated regularly • Adjusted as needed • Measured for fidelity • Time, energy and resources!
