  4. Service Timeline January 1942: PFC. Livas is drafted. October 1944: Private Livas reported missing. November 6, 1944: His death is confirmed. February 5, 1945: Receives Bronze Star and Purple Heart March 6, 1949: Laid to rest at the Alamo St. Joseph Cemetery.

  5. The Bronze Star Medal is an individual military award of the United States Armed Forces. It may be awarded for acts of heroism, acts of merit, or meritorious service in a combat zone. The Purple Heart is a United Statesmilitary decoration awarded in the name of the President to those who have been wounded or killed while serving on or after April 5, 1917 with the U.S. military. With its forerunner, the Badge of Military Merit, which took the form of a heart made of purple cloth, the Purple Heart is the oldest military award that is still given to members of the U.S. military.
