NACA 4412. 2D Airfoil Near-Wake. Conclusions and Future Work for Near Wake Case .

Conclusions and Future Work for Near Wake Case • Before the latest changes to the metric optimization, adapting based on drag doesn’t predict anything correctly. Adapting on RS gives oscillatory results for Cd and Cl, but good results for velocity profile and RS. • After the changes, adapting on drag gives much better results for Cd, Cl, and velocity profile, but wrong results for RS. Adapting on RS gives oscillatory results for Cd and Cl, but good results for velocity profile and RS • Cd and Cl convergence with plot 2D grids look similar to those of NACA4412. • The mesh after 30 drag adaptation iterations is too coarse in the wake. The mesh after 30 RS adaptations has very high aspect ratio elements everywhere in the vicinity of the airfoil. Is that what we want ? • Future work: verify the adaptation is working as expected
