  3. Iris is the goddess of of rainbows,the sky and the sea • She is a messenger of the gods, but a personal messenger for Hera and Zeus • She used rainbows to come down to earth and deliver messages • She also traveled to the oceans and to the Underworld

  4. Her greek name is: Ipus • Her latin name is: Iris and Arcus • Her messenger name is Eiris her rainbow name is Iris • Iris is a popular subject to paint on vases

  5. In pictures Iris is seen as a beautiful young woman • She has golden wings and has a halo of light around her head

  6. Her rainbows were believed to go from the sea to the sky • She was also believed to fill the rain clouds with sea water

  7. In science iris is a flower • It is also the color part of an eye
