Where are we? • Both submissions and dollars awarded are declining. • Concomitantly, the funding ratio for submitted proposals is increasing. • The only thing that will reverse this trend is to increase the number of submissions.
What’s next/what’s needed? • Improve data capture and reporting, particularly for individual fellowships and awards • Build capacity through workshops, seminars, training for proposal writers • Sustain and build outreach program to encourage increased submissions • Develop mentoring and incentives to support grant-seeking
