PEEBPE Networking Activities • In the framework of networking and co-operation with Greek and foreign Universities, Associations, Development Agencies and EU-funded projects…. • … a Memorandum of Understanding between the PEEBPE project, the MARIE project (Programme MED) and the GRASP project (Programme MED), has been elaborated and signed

  3. Brief Background • The 3 projects share common thematic goals, such as Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Energy Efficiency (EE) Issues • Specific sectors of synergies have been defined in the MoU • General Goal: “to promote the sensitization of communities with regard to RES and EE policies, technologies and solutions”

  4. Sectors of Synergies • To contribute to the development of databases, regarding technical, technological and economic aspects of RES and EE interventions and action plans • To contribute to the specification of energy & cost performance, and overall green assessment indicators that will help policy makers and eventually consumers to assess RES & EE investments and interventions • To stimulate demand by raising awareness among ‘users’ regarding energy efficiency and the implementation of financial incentives

Sectors of Synergies • To cooperate in common dissemination activities such as trilateral invitations to events, contact sharing of stakeholders, common event organization; and in playing a catalyst role in merging the actions of the three projects at local, regional, national and European level • To assist in the challenges that each project presents as to its goal implementation such as the development of the Mediterranean Building Energy Efficiency Strategy (MEDBEES) in MARIE; Best Practices in Procurement and Legal Framework at National and European level in GRASP; improvement of existing buildings and design and construction of future buildings in PEEBPE

The MARIE Project • “MediterrΑnean Building Rethinking for Energy Efficiency Improvement” (project acronym: MARIE) • Duration: 45 months (April 2011 - December 2014) • Lead Partner: Department of Territory and Sustainability (DTES) of the Government of Catalonia • 23 organizations from 9 countries of the Mediterranean area: Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Slovenia, Greece, Malta, Cyprus & Montenegro

The MARIE Project • MARIE project aims to establish the socio‐economic conditions for Energy Efficiency (EE) improvement in the Mediterranean Building Stock in the framework of EU policy objectives, overcoming barriers and creating sustainable development opportunities in the MED area • Overall Objective: the development of the Mediterranean Building Energy Efficiency Strategy (MEDBEES)

The GRASP Project • The main theme of the “GRASP: GReen procurement And Smart city suPport in the energy sector” project is built on the MED objective for the promotion of innovative energy solutions in smart cities • Lead Partner: University of Patras, Greece • GRASP project website: http://www.grasp-med.eu • 13 Project Partners from the Mediterranean area

  10. The GRASP Project • Main Objective: to support cities, municipalities, regions in adopting innovative solutions in the energy sector, and strengthen them interregionally through the use of a green transnational electronic procurement system
