What is the Advanced Placement Program? • Rigorous academic program • Built on commitment, passion, and hard work • Provides willing and academically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level

AP EXAMS • Each AP course has a corresponding AP Exam that schools worldwide administer in May. • AP Exams provide students with a standardized measure of what they’ve accomplished in the AP classroom, and are thus an essential part of the AP Program. • Taking an AP Exam allows students to experience a college-level exam now, while they are still in high school. • Students’ work will be evaluated by unbiased college and university professors and AP teachers using college-level standards. • Students’ scores are sent to the colleges of their choice. • Most colleges and universities in the United States and Canada, and institutions in more than 40 other countries, grant students credit, placement, or both for qualifying AP Exam grades. • At many of these institutions, you can earn up to a full year of college credit.
AP EXAM FEES Fees this year ~$89 per Exam Free or Reduced Lunch~ ( Awaiting information on this ..$59 per exam or $10) http://professionals.collegeboard.com/testing/ap/coordinate/fee-assistance
ADVANTAGES OF TAKING AP • Stand out in the admission process • Earn academic scholarships and awards from colleges and universities • Experience college-level academics now, while they're still in high school • Save time and money once they get to college, providing them with more study options and allowing them to move directly into upper-level courses in their field of interest • Earn AP Scholar Awards, an academic distinction granted each September by the College Board to students with exemplary AP Exam scores.
HISTORY OF AP at PINELANDS • The Advanced Placement Program began in the school year 1990-1991. • At that time, there was only one class running, and it took 15 years to build up the program to include 8 AP classes. • Only the top students were selected to take the AP classes, and very few passed the examination at the end. • We have slowly opened up the accessibility to the AP classes so that any student interested in taking this type of class can be admitted into the program.
