The focusof the EMPATIC project • Effective exploitation of the results of the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) and related actions, connected with the Information Literacy development in Europe, • including IL initiatives within the four sectoral programs, that is Comenius (school sector), Erasmus (higher education sector), Leonardo da Vinci (vocational education) and Grundtvig (adult learning)
The focusof the EMPATIC project • The EMPATIC project aims to promote strategic (conforming to the prepared, considered, and agreed proceedings strategy) approach to Information Literacy education for citizens and societies in Europe
The aims and objectives of the EMPATIC project • Its main aims are to: • improve current perceptions among policy makers in Europe regarding the role, value and implementability of Information Literacy in learning • pave the way for the extended piloting and eventual mainstreaming of information competencies in all levels of education and their integration in the reform of curriculum frameworks • The core objectives of the project are to: • draw together and valorize the results of previous Information Literacy initiatives and projects across the school, university, adult and vocational learning sectors • use this evidence to influence policy makers’ perceptions and actions to support a marked increase in piloting and mainstreaming of Information Literacy • have a significant impact on validating new learning paradigms and strategic thinking on curriculum reform
The aims of the International Workshop „Information Literacy Development in the School Sector” 8 June 2011, Poland, Kraków • To discuss strategies, models and methods of Information Literacy (IL) development in the school learning sector across the UE • To share experiences, opinions, advice on development of the information competencies and culture among students, teachers and other groups
