Theological Themes Doctrine of retribution in Deut. 28 (blessings and curses) is a general moral principle of God’s administration of justice, not a hard and fast rule. Job and the 4 speakers held fast to retribution theology but God eliminated it. God can work all things – even evil things – together for good (Rom 8:28). Jesus suffered the greatest evil – betrayal and crucifixion – so that we have forgiveness and cleansing.
