Conceptual Framework for the Construction of Effective Rhetoric for Internal and External Audiences ( Descriptive, Persuasive Communication) • Brief “invitation to join” (those inside nursing) • Emphasis of a need for an understanding of the Balance between self-interest and common interest • Emphasis on the need to look at collaboration and quality as the core principles Action? • What are the potential partnerships to address current constraints? (Each point may be separate or overlap with respect to constituencies inside and outside of nursing) • Legal policy changes • Regulatory changes • Education sector • Service sector • Resource issues • Identification of programs and processes • Identify resources ( Players and the “pitch” for new resources and programs) • Conversations for those “in the tent” • Face to face meetings • Virtual meetings • Virtual community of interest • Brief “invitation to join” document ( those outside nursing) • Why is participation necessary? No more than 10 bullet points divided into current constraints and future potential if recommendations are implemented • Why must all nurses have better education, training and scope of practice? Focus on care processes and how they are affected by current constraints. • How can educated and empowered nurses “working together” improve quality? • Few cogent examples with improved care processes that may be possible if recommendations are implemented • How can a collaborative expanded scope of practice • for all nurses contribute to high quality care? • Start with what improvements in collaborative care processes and work backward to role and level of preparation • Example….. What are high quality care processes in a given setting ( primary care, acute hospital, rehab, home health) and how can better educated nurses with an increased scope of practice work collaboratively in an intra-professional and an inter-professional manner to improve quality outcomes? “Hook” for internal and external audiences: Enhancing the Capacity of Nurses to Contribute to Collaborative Care Processes and Quality Outcomes?
